In 2017, after our family dog passed of lung cancer, our mom had a moment of "what if the candles we burned all these years formed the cancer?". While we don't truly know why or how our beloved Murphy got lung cancer, the idea struck a chord. Were the candles we were burning clean? non-toxic? We started hand pouring candles in our small studio apartment kitchen in Seattle, WA trying to find safe ingredients for our homes.
For nearly 2 years - we tested different waxes, oils and wicks until we finally launched in 2019 with our Marketplace line. In 2022, we introduced our fine fragrance line - The Muse Collection.
All of our candles are made with proprietary coconut soy wax blends, infused with phthalate & paraben free oils that adhere to IFRA standards and are topped with either an FSC certified wooden wick or a zinc/lead free cotton wick.
What's in a Name?
As an homage to our roots and favorite family pastimes, Summit & Terrace is a brand that is both nostalgic in its meaning and scents but also speaks to the person you dream to become. The brand's name holds two meanings; Summit is in reference to our European heritage and the months we have spent there soaking in its beauty. Terrace is in remembrance of our favorite past times, which includes spending hours with our grandmother on her terrace learning about our culture. We bring the brand full circle with 2 of the streets we lived on in Seattle, Summit and Terrace. These are the streets where the brand was born. Taking on a new city with a heart full of aspirations. Our hope is that as you burn our candles, the first inhale reminds you of loving memories that can tie back to your own roots, and the second inhale inspires you to reach new goals and dreams.
